Luxury in hotels isn’t demonstrated through the number of stars it holds alone, but also through the specific services it offers, such as: uniqueness, gastronomy, breakfast, the spa, the concierge service, to name a few amongst a huge range of diverse factors. Together with Carme Casajuana (Lifestyle Concierge), Cristina Martí (Senior PA and Lifestyle Manager) and Karen Hallard i Meseguer (Residential Lifestyle Concierge), all of whom form part of the Alberta La Grup team and are well acquainted with the luxury world, we have put together some information about the top hotels in the international panorama.
The most unique
According to Carme Casajuana, Lifestyle Concierge at Alberta La Grup, Amsterdam and the Maldives are home to the most unique hotels in the world. Here we tell you why:
- Crane Hotel Faralda: The Crane Hotel Faralda is located in Amsterdam. It is a 5* hotel, build in an old port crane, 50 metres off the ground. It offers design suites with amazing views of the port. At the top of the Crane Hotel Faralada there is a heated Spa and covered pool with views over Amsterdam.
- Conrad Maldives Ragali island – Muraka: Muraka is a luxury, two-storey residency within the resort in the Maldives. The Muraka is a modern, two-storey design and the main bedroom in the residency is 5 metres underwater. In the bedroom there is an acrylic dome , curved at 180 degrees, floor-to-ceiling windows in the bathroom and dressing room, and even a private tunnel in which you can observe the marine life undisturbed. The experience of staying at Muraka begins from the moment you land at the airport, where you will be picked up in a private hydroplane or a private boat, which you will then have access to throughout the duration of your stay.
According to Cristina Martí, Senior PA and Lifestyle Concierge at Alberta La Grup, the most unique hotel, taking into account the dictionary definition (a unique species, extraordinary, strange or excellent), can be found in Italy. Read more to find out which one:
- Hotel Borgo San Pietro: found in the Italian town of Chiusdino, in the province of Siena (located in the Tuscany region). It’s location, service, history and elegance make it truly unique.
Karen Hallard i Meseguer, Residential Lifestyle Concierge at Alberta La Grup, points out two outstanding hotels in Africa:
- Giraffe Manor, in Nairobi (Kenya). This hotel has giraffes in the garden. The most exotic part of this hotel is that you have the chance to eat breakfast with the giraffes: A truly unique and unforgettable experience.
- Zawadi, in Zanzibar (Tanzania). It has spectacular views with a private beach and incredible decoration.
The best gastronomy
According to Carme Casajuana, the best gastronomy can be found in a hotel in La Coruña and another in Dubai:
The Noa Boutique Hotel can be found in Oleiros, La Coruña, which has won the World Luxury Restaurant Award through its Noa Gastro Lounge, which was named one of the best gastronomic establishments located in a luxury hotel. The fundamental pillars of this hotel are sustainability, gastronomy using local produce and personalised service.
In the Burk Al Arab Jumeirah in Dubai, you can find one of the best hotel restaurants. Al Mahara promises to awaken our sense and offers fish and seafood beside an enormous aquarium.

- Castello di Guarene, en Guarene, in the province of Cuneo, in the Piamonte region.

The best Concierge
Carme Casajuana takes us to the United States where we will find the best Concierge service:
- The Spectator Hotel: The Spectator Hotel, located in Charleston in South Carolina offers a butler service, which means a personal concierge for every guest, with the aim of satisfying all the wants and needs of the customers. The butlers have all been trained at the Charleston School of Protocol.
The butlers-concierge are a combination of mobile concierge and local tour guide, offering guests a personalized itinerary, bringing them breakfast, additional services, etc.
Cristina Martí takes us to pure Asian luxury in Dubai, as well as a classic in New York:
- Jumeirah Beach Road Dubai. She even gives us the name of the Concierge: Ali Riaz, who she rates as “10/10” for his dedication and availability.
- The Plaza, on Fifth Avenue at Central Park South (New York). For their great professionalism and know-how.
En Barcelona, Karen informs us that the best Concierge service can be found at:
- Mandarin Oriental Barcelona: For the time they dedicate to their guests, and for always being on top of everything.
The best breakfast
Breakfast is becoming more and more important, so much so that for some, it is an essential requirement when selecting a hotel.

El lujo en los hoteles no sólo se encuentra en el reconocimiento de las estrellas que posea, sino en servicios concretos como: su singularidad, su gastronomía, el desayuno, el spa o el concierge, entre una gran diversidad de factores. Con la colaboración de Carme Casajuana (Lifestyle Concierge), Cristina Martí (Senior PA and Lifestyle Manager) y Karen Hallard i Meseguer (Residential Lifestyle Concierge); todas ellas del equipo de Alberta La Grup y ampliamente conocedoras de la actualidad del lujo, nos informan acerca de lo más ‘top’ del panorama internacional hotelero.
Los más singulares
Según Carme Casajuana, Lifestyle Concierge de Alberta La Grup, Amsterdam y Maldivas poseen los hoteles más singulares del mundo y te cuenta por qué:
- Crane Hotel Faralda: El Crane Hotel Faralda se sitúa en Amsterdam. Se trata de un hotel de 5* construido en una antigua grúa portuaria, a 50 metros de altura. Ofrece suites de diseño con fantásticas vistas al puerto. En la cubierta superior del Crane Hotel Faralda hay una piscina spa climatizada con vistas a Ámsterdam.
- Conrad Maldives Ragali island – Muraka: Muraka es una lujosa residencia de dos niveles dentro del complejo hotelero, en Islas Maldivas. Esta residencia ofrece una habitación principal sumergida a unos 5 metros bajo el mar. The Muraka tiene un diseño moderno en sus dos niveles. En la habitación principal cuenta con una cúpula acrílica curvada de 180º, ventanas de suelo a techo en el baño y vestidor, así como un túnel privado para observar el fondo marinosin inconvenientes. La experiencia de alojarse en The Muraka empieza a la llegada al aeropuerto, desde donde te recogen en un hidroavión privado o lancha privada, que luego puedes usar durante tu estancia.
Según Cristina Martí, Senior PA y Lifestyle Concierge de Alberta La Grup, el hotel más singular, teniendo como definición del término que presenta la RAE (único en su especie, extraordinario, raro o excelente), se queda con uno de Italia. Es el siguiente:
- Hotel Borgo San Pietro: situado en la localidad italiana de Chiusdino, en la provincia de Siena (en la región de la Toscana). Su ubicación, servicio, historia y elegancia, lo hacen único.
Por su parte, Karen Hallard i Meseguer, Residential Lifestyle Concierge de Alberta La Grup, destaca dos hoteles de África:
- Giraffe Manor, en Nairobi (Kenia). Se trata de un hotel que tiene jirafas en el jardín. Lo exótico de este hotel es que se puede desayunar con las jirafas. Una experiencia absolutamente singular y única.
- Zawadi, en Zanzíbar (Tanzania). Tiene unas vistas espectaculares con playa privada y una increíble decoración.
La mejor gastronomía
Según Carme Casajuana, la mejor gastronomía está en un hotel de La Coruña y otro de Dubai:
El Noa Boutique Hotel, situado en el municipio de Oleiros, La Coruña, ha sido premiado al World Luxury Restaurant Award, que acredita al restaurante Noa Gastro Lounge, como uno de los mejores establecimientos gastronómicos ubicados en hoteles de lujo. Los pilares fundamentales de este hotel son la sostenibilidad, la gastronomía de kilómetro cero y el trato personalizado.
En el Burh Al Arab Jumeirah de Dubai, se encuentra uno de los mejores restaurantes dentro de un hotel. El restaurante, Al Mahara, promete estimular nuestros sentidos. Ofrece pescados y mariscos al lado de un enorme acuario.

Carme Casajuana nos traslada a Estados Unidos para el mejor servicio de Concierge:
- The Spectator Hotel: El Spectator Hotel, situado en Charleston, Carolina del Sud, ofrece un servicio de Mayordomía – Concierge personal para cada huésped, con el fin de satisfacer todas las necesidades y caprichos de los clientes. Los butlers han completado su formación en la Escuela de Protocolo de Charleston.
Los butlers-concierge son una combinación de concierge móvil, botones y guía turístico local, que ofrecen a los huéspedes itinerarios personalizados, entrega de desayuno, servicios de cobertura, etcétera.
Cristina Martí nos traslada al más puro lujo asiático en Dubai y a un gran clásico de New York:
- Jumeirah Beach Road Dubai. Y nos detalla el nombre del concierge: Ali Riaz, a quien califica como “un 10 sobre 10”, por su dedicación y disponibilidad.
